Shore are pleased to announce that we have now become a real living wage employer, accredited by the Living Wage Foundation.
This commitment applies to not only directly employed staff but also to our third party contracted staff. Shore have ensured that all our third party contracted staff, such as our cleaners, are paid the Real Living Wage.
The Real Living Wage is an independent rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for organisations to ensure that staff earn a wage that goes beyond the government’s legal requirements. In total the Real Living Wage is paid by voluntarily by over 7,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a wage which meets every day needs – like the weekly shop, or a surprise trip to the dentist. It is also paid to those who are over the age of 18 and not just over 25 as per the Government’s Living Wage. This is in recognition that young people face the same living cost as everyone else in the UK.
From Kevin Savage, Managing Director:
‘It is important for us to ensure that all our employees are paid a fair living wage which reflects the actual cost of living and the Real Living Wage is a way to show that we understand that our staff are our best asset – without them we cannot deliver a high-quality service to our customers. The accreditation not only shows our commitment to pay, it also demonstrates our dedication to our core values.
Earning the Real Living Wage has a positive impact on staff, and it may ease some of the financial pressures that may be being felt, this is intrinsically linked to an increase of wellbeing both in life and the workplace.
Paying the Real Living Wage is the right thing to do morally and we would urge more businesses to join us in being accredited by the Living Wage Foundation.’
