As Approved Inspectors, authorised by Government to carry out Building Control on building works in England and Wales, we are licensed by the Construction Industry Council Approved Inspectors Register (CICAIR) and fully comply with their Code of Conduct, for which we undergo rigorous assessment every 5 years.

Ryan has over 20 years-experience in Building Control Surveying and has accumulated vast knowledge of the Building Regulations and general construction methods. Having worked at several local authorities before joining Shore in 2006, Ryan has played a major role in growing the business locally, within London and the M25 corridor. His experience and knowledge include a range of projects from high-rise office buildings, residential care homes, various NHS and private health care facilities, industrial units and listed buildings. Ryan and his team’s experience across the sector provide clients with a first-class Building Control Service that brings value to any design team, providing solutions to problems as and when they arise.

Simon has developed expertise in specialist buildings including high-rise offices, hotels, residential care homes, retail, restaurants, flats and large-scale domestic projects. Since joining the practice in 2004, he has played a key role supporting the founding Directors in the development of the business locally and in London. His comprehensive understanding of the Building Regulations gained across a wide variety of building control projects, together with his practical, diligent and meticulous approach makes him an invaluable addition to any project team. Simon strives to ensure that the service provided by Shore’s professional consultants and surveyors is always customer focused and second to none.

Kevin is one of the practices founding Director’s. He has taken a lead on the successful development of Shore and became Managing Director in 2017. Whilst retaining close ties to the daily management of the practice, Kevin utilises his 23 years professional building control experience to provide advice and support to clients, partners and legislative bodies.
Kevin’s experience in building control has made him a leading authority on building regulations and their application across domestic and commercial environments. His knowledge and experience on a broad range of projects across all areas of the business including health, safety and CDM, within both public and private sectors, gives him a clear strategic vision for further development of the business and continuous improvement of our services.

Matthew is responsible for the day to day running of our busy Building Control team covering East Anglia. His team engage with homeowners, builders, architects and agents on a range of construction projects offering clear advice and guidance. He has expertise in new construction and historical buildings, and in-depth knowledge and experience of the Building Regulations and associated legislation. Matthew enjoys supporting clients and helping them to achieve their project goals and compliance.

With over 27 years’ experience in the construction industry, 18 of which have been in Building Control, Steve has developed his skills working as a Senior Building Control Surveyor for the City of London Corporation. This was followed by an appointment as a Senior Construction Professional at DCLG, working in the technical team responsible for the Building Regulations for England.
Steve brought his extensive experience across all aspects of the Building Regulations and their application to Shore and since then has used his skills to develop new business opportunities alongside taking the lead on our marketing and communications and developing our successful bespoke ‘white book programme’ for graduate training and development within the practice. Steve is an integral member of the Board and sits on a number of industry working groups, is highly technically minded with a proactive attitude. Steve is extremally approachable and happy to get his hands dirty.

Neil Fenn – Director

Having previously worked for a large construction company based in East Anglia, undertaking both site and contracts management roles, Neil has over 17 years’ experience in the construction industry. He joined Shore in 2009, bringing with him extensive experience and understanding of the application of the CDM Regulations. Neil is a construction management professional with a keen interest in construction methodology and construction health and safety and since joining Shore has supported and managed the successful growth of the CDM team.
